Principles for the Fall Semester

Quality Course Standards

At UT, the delivery of online and hybrid education that reflects academic rigor and quality standards is a top priority. During the course design and development phase, instructors are strongly encouraged to use the Best Practices for Developing and Delivering Online Instruction. This comprehensive set of standards from OIT Instructional Support is based on best practices in the field of online teaching, learning, and assessment. It should be used as a guideline for course development, and as a checklist to ensure your online course meets quality and accessibility standards.

In order to evaluate the online classroom experience, faculty can access the Online Learning Consortium’s Quality Course Teaching and Instructional Practice (QCTIP) scorecard, a comprehensive tool for in-depth review of instructional practices and teaching effectiveness in several areas, including: Course Fundamentals, Learning Foundations, Faculty Engagement and Student Engagement.
