Introduction to Online Teaching Certification Seminar

Graduate Student Seminar

The Online Learning & Academic Programs (OLAP) and Teaching and Learning Innovation (TLI) will offer the Introduction to Online Teaching Certification Seminar for Graduate Students in Spring 2023. The Seminar is designed to introduce graduate students to online course design and pedagogy. This workshop is a part of TLI’sDeveloping Future Faculty series, and participants will earn a certificate at the end of the seminar.

During this seminar, graduate students will learn and apply the principles and best practices associated with designing and developing an online course. It will include topics such as fundamentals of designing and teaching online courses, universal design and accessibility in online education, student engagement in online courses, and online assessment strategies.

Format

This is a blended course, which means there is an asynchronous and synchronous (via Zoom) component to this course.

Duration

This certification seminar is a six-week course with four synchronous workshops via Zoom. Attendance is mandatory for at least three of the four synchronous sessions. All deliverables must be completed to earn the certificate of completion. Participants are expected to spend 2 to 3 hours weekly on course activities and assignments.
