RHTM 515: The Changing Landscape in Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism

This course explores contemporary issues and emerging trends in retail, hospitality, and tourism management. Students will assess industry trends by identifying key shifts, exploring market conditions, analyzing competitors, examining consumer behavior, and tracking regulatory and legal developments. Emphasis will be placed on the adoption of new technologies and sustainable consumer behaviors. Through discussions, case studies, and a trend report project, students will learn to develop well-informed recommendations that foster innovation and enhance competitiveness.

RHTM 504: Qualitative Market Research

This course explores both the theoretical foundations of qualitative inquiry and the primary methods for data collection and analysis. Students will be provided with a comprehensive set of qualitative tools used in market research and social inquiry. Students will engage in hands-on experiential assignments including conducting in-depth interviews, focus-groups, observations, and visual/document/material artifact collections. Preliminary analytical practices such as coding and thematic analysis will also be covered.

RHTM 525: Customer Experience Management

This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, strategies, and technologies involved in creating exceptional consumer experiences across various stages of the customer journey. Students will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to design, implement, and manage customer-centric strategies that drive business success and foster lasting customer relationships through theoretical insights, practical assignments, and real-world case studies.

RHTM 541: Brand Communication

This course guides students to explore the emotional aspect of brands, focusing on humanization, empathy, and authenticity, while uncovering the power of storytelling and sensory communication. Students will explore topics such as empowerment, nostalgia, and cultural diversity to learn how to connect with diverse audiences. The course also covers influencer marketing, brand activism, and ethical considerations, providing students with the skills to create strong, ethical, and resilient brand messages in today’s competitive market.
