Program Overview
The Certificate Program in Vocal Pedagogy is an add-on certificate available to graduate students already in a Masters of Music program at the University of Tennessee or as a standalone certificate for vocalists looking to further their pedagogical knowledge and skills.This program will provide graduate students with the coursework and practical experience necessary to build a career as a voice teacher.

Acquire a Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy
The College of Music offers a graduate certificate in Vocal Pedagogy to prepare vocal music professionals for a career as a voice teacher, whether in a private studio, academic institution, or larger private music program. This certificate focuses on practical pedagogical information and practices, as well as student led research and discussion. Courses include the study of vocal anatomy and function, historical vs. current issues in vocal pedagogy, and practical experience in voice teaching. Additionally, throughout the coursework, students will explore personal research topics and marketable outcomes.

Study of vocal production, examination of different methods.

Study of teaching materials, observation of studio teaching, analysis of vocal problems in selected students, and supervised teaching.
